As of October, 2024

Here are links to profile pages for three of the Kleisner siblings: Václav (1872-1952), who emigrated to the US, Petr (1878-1955), who moved to Vienna and then Bratislava, and Katerina (1887-1953), who remained in Ježovy.

Kleisner Cousins

Through research, DNA and some serendipity, we have discovered living descendants of Laurel and Lowell's grandfather Vaclav's siblings who remained in Bohemia. As of May 2024, we have had four Reunions with them, three in Ježovy and one in Bratislava. Laurel and Lowell’s Kleisner cousins trace down from three of the nine siblings of their paternal grandfather Vaclav Klaisner who did not emigrate to the US.

Kleisner Cousin Chart

This extended family tree, which was shown as a big wall chart at the 2024 Reunion, shows four generations of cousins descending from Václav and Magdalena Kleisner. Click on the image below to view / download the full chart as a .pdf.

Kleisner Profiles

Kleisner Siblings

The ancestral couple linking our Czech cousins is Václav Kleisner (1843-1922) and Magdalena Koptík (1846-1918). They were born and married in Ježovy and lived most of their lives there. They had ten children, with six of them having descendants. Three of Václav and Magdalena's children, Václav, Petr and Katerina (see red boxes on the chart), had grandchildren present at the 2024 Reunion, who are 2nd cousins to one another.

In addition, we are hoping to discover if there are any living cousins descended from Barbara Kleisner, who married Peter Bosek and lived in Nedanice, and Magdalena Kleisner, who married two Malý brothers and lived in Balkovy.

Our grandfather’s youngest brother, whose descendants include many of our living cousins in Czechia and Slovakia

Our grandfather’s youngest daughter, whose descendants still live in Ježovy

Our grandfather, who emigrated to Chicago, Illinois, in 1891 and changed his surname to Klaisner
